“What I like about Karen Chekerdjian’s work is the thin line between sculpture and design. She creates enigmatic works that are truely defy interpretation or reinterpretation. This artist also exhibits an ability to master the invention of motifs, to revisit the most elementary of forms, astonishing the spectator and making of them happy users,” says Jean-Jacques Dutko.
The Dutko Gallery will present the universe of Karen Chekerdjian – for the first time in Paris – in its gallery located near the Institut du Monde Arabe. Her iconic pieces and iconic objects will be exhibited: Hiroshima III and V, Living Space III, Object 03 X Y Z, Object 04 D E F, Platform Rainbow, Trans-C, Quarter Rainbow, Element I, Terra Continens, Spaceship II, Bar SS3 and Totem Collection.
These pieces form an abstract fantasy landscape throughout the vast space designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. The minimalist and precious setting magnify the “Respiration” of the Lebanese artist, allowing both the philistine and the enthusiast to move towards and reach the quintessence of forms and their enigmas. A happy and elegant stroll in the poetic world of Karen Chekerdjian.
