Private Residence
Beirut, 2013

The project consits in designing two be-spoke pieces: a bar called Rock Formation and the dining table, Black Diamond. A partial restyling of the existing furniture followed.
Rock Formation: the height of this custom-designed piece – at 90cm, it is in the middle-height range - means that it works both as bar and as table. Topped by a single slab of wood, the sleek cubic organ pipe geometries of its curtained metallic base channel a distinctly Art Deco vibe. Its inspiration, though, is far older, drawn as it is from the outcroppings of volcanic basalt columns found in places like Namibia’s Damaraland and Ireland’s County Antrim.
Black Diamond: the shape of this impressive table is inspired by the diamond’s structure. A precious and unique piece that stands between Art and Design. The top, in tinted rich black sycamore, contrasts with the oxidized brass bottom. The base’s light geometry is juxtaposed with the heavy presence of the solid wood.
