LOUNGE CHAIR is the first example of a group of objects that I called "living spaces".
It was designed during Karen's move to Jordan.
Amman being a city where you can hardly stroll, so Chekerdjian found herself forced to live in a hotel for a month. She had to define a place to be able to concentrate and create. I wandered through the building with my laptop in search of this adequate place.
The Lounge Chair was the unconscious result of this uncomfortable situation. It was thought as an intimate space even if set in public.
It combines the chair, the table and the shelf:
a) You sit on it the same way you mount a horse.
b) You place your tray or computer on the table.
c) You store your books and newspapers.
You can eat, drink, read and work on it. It is a place to live.

Bookshelf, 2004
Bleached beech wood
Natural color
30 (l) × 92.5 (w) × 255 (h) cm

BOOKSHELF is the second example of the set called “living spaces”.
A simple structure made up of two different parts that fit into each other to form one piece of furniture.
This piece of furniture is a tribute to the world of books which is incomplete without writing or reading.
It also underlines the fascination exerted by books and the disappearance that goes with reading. The seat is printed onto the lower part of the furniture. In conclusion this item combines several functions: bookcase, stepladder, seat and desk.
